Privacy policy

Last updated May 9, 2026. This summary is written for launch clarity, but it is not a substitute for legal review.

Employee Of The Week collects and stores the information needed to operate a self-serve worker and employer connection marketplace.

Information we collect

  • Account details, including email address, password hash, account role, confirmation status, and email preferences.
  • Profile details, including name or company, city/state, work category, custom category, wage target or offered wage, availability, radius, about text, and resume or requirement notes.
  • Marketplace activity, including searches, job requests, accept or deny decisions, private messages, one-week engagement records, ratings, written reviews, reports, and admin audit records.
  • Technical records, including session cookies, rate-limit records, email delivery status, and basic operational logs used to keep the service reliable and secure.
  • Payment status for optional Spotlight subscriptions. Stripe processes payment details; Employee Of The Week should store only the Stripe customer, subscription, and status identifiers needed to manage Spotlight visibility.

How we use information

We use marketplace information to create accounts, confirm email addresses, show worker and employer profiles in relevant search results, send weekly match emails when enabled, support private messages, document requests and reviews, respond to reports, prevent abuse, operate Spotlight visibility, and maintain the site.

Profile visibility

Completed and confirmed profiles may appear in search results, location pages, and weekly match emails. Private messages, reports, password hashes, session data, email delivery records, and payment identifiers are not public profile fields.

Email choices

Confirmation and account-security emails are sent so the account can work. Weekly match emails are optional and include an unsubscribe or preference-management link when generated by the platform.

Sharing

We share information only as needed to operate the service, such as email delivery through the configured mail provider, payment handling through Stripe, hosting and infrastructure providers, and disclosures required by law or needed to investigate abuse. We do not sell worker or employer profile information.

Retention and deletion

Marketplace records may be kept while an account is active and for a reasonable period afterward so requests, messages, ratings, reviews, reports, payment status, and audit records remain documented. To request deletion or correction, email info@employeeoftheweek.com.

Security and responsibility

Passwords are stored as hashes, not plain text. Users are responsible for keeping their login credentials private and for not posting sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for a direct worker/employer conversation.

Children

The service is intended for users who can legally enter work-related agreements in their location and is not intended for children.
